What Is a Candle Refill Service?
A candle refill service takes your finished candle container — whatever the brand, whatever the material — and turns it back into a brand-new scented candle. At our Sai Kung workshop, each vessel is cleaned of residual wax, fitted with a fresh wick, and hand-poured with your choice of fragrance from our library of 26 scents, from the tea-inspired No. 10 Shoumei and No. 17 Osmanthus Oolong to signature favourites like No. 39 Black Fig and No. 46 Seasalt Sage.
Glass, ceramic, tin, terrazzo, or that jar from a luxury brand you couldn't bear to bin — if it once held a candle (or is simply heat-safe and the right shape), it can almost certainly hold another.
Why Refill Instead of Buying New?
The case for refilling has never been stronger, and it goes beyond sentiment.
It costs less. A refill costs a fraction of a new luxury candle, because you are paying for wax, fragrance, and craft — not new packaging. During the REFILL WITH STYLE Summer Sale, regular scents drop to roughly HKD 0.70 per gram, meaning a 200g candle refill costs about the same as two specialty coffees.
It wastes less. Hong Kong sends thousands of tonnes of glass to landfill every year, and candle vessels — often thick, coloured, or mixed-material — are among the hardest to recycle conventionally. Refilling sidesteps the problem entirely: the greenest container is the one you already own.
It keeps what you love. Some vessels mark occasions — a wedding favour, a gift from someone dear, a souvenir from a trip. Refilling lets the object stay in your life while the scent inside evolves with you.
Ten Years of R: A Short History
When we started offering refills in the mid-2010s, "circular economy" was not yet a household phrase. What we had was a community — Sai Kung locals, then customers from across Hong Kong — who kept coming back with bags of empty jars and new scent requests. Over ten years, that community grew into the R Club: thousands of refilled vessels, four drop-off locations across the city (BeCandle Sai Kung, Sang Roastery in To Kwa Wan, Oasis Cafe in Kennedy Town, and Yu Dei in Sham Shui Po), and a door-to-door pickup service for those who prefer to stay home and let us do the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I refill a candle jar from another brand?
Yes. R refills containers from any brand, as long as the vessel is heat-safe and structurally sound. Diptyque, Jo Malone, Aesop jars — we have refilled them all.
Do I need to clean the container first?
No. Cleaning, wax removal, and re-wicking are all part of the service.
How long does a refill take?
Most refill requests are completed and returned within approximately two weeks, depending on order volume during the campaign.
How long are R Credits valid?
180 days from purchase — enough time to refill at your own pace across two seasons.
Where can I drop off my containers?
BeCandle Sai Kung, Sang Roastery (To Kwa Wan), Oasis Cafe (Kennedy Town), or Yu Dei (Sham Shui Po). Door-to-door pickup is also available.
